Well, this festival of debauchery might be the highlight of the year for some people, but for us seasoned expat mongers, it’s a mixed bag of fun, frustration, and potential disaster.
First, let’s talk about the ++
There’s no denying that Songkran is a great time to be in Pattaya if you’re into the mongering scene. The city is flooded with tourists, both local and foreign, and that means the bars, clubs, and streets are packed with girls looking for some fun.
And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting drenched in cold water by a cute Thai girl who’s had a bit too much to drink 555.
Songkran in Pattaya is a prime time for all the hottest and most eager girls to come out and play.
They’re dressed in their skimpiest outfits, and they’re ready to do whatever it takes to get your attention.
Trust me, if you’re a fan of Asian beauties, this is the time to come to Pattaya and enjoy the party.
But here’s the thing: as much as I love the party atmosphere during Songkran, it can also be a real pain in the ass for mongers blokes like us.
For starters, all those extra people mean the streets are crowded as hell, which makes it a nightmare to navigate from one bar to another.
And once you do get to a bar, good luck trying to find a spot to sit down and enjoy a cold one without getting drenched every five seconds.
Advice for the “non-fun” monger here, go somewhere quieter, where you can still have a good time without risking life and limb.

Well, there may be more girls on the streets during Songkran, but they’re also more likely to be drunk/play and working in groups, which makes it harder to negotiate and score a good deal.
Plus, with all the chaos and noise, it’s nearly impossible to have a decent conversation with a girl.
But despite all these challenges, I’ve still managed to have some truly unforgettable experiences during Songkran in Pattaya.
Like that time I met a group of girls who were all dressed in matching Songkran-themed outfits, and ended up spending the whole night with them in a hotel room.
Or the time I stumbled upon a secluded alleyway where a group of girls were having a water fight, and got pulled into the middle of it.
Of course, with great fun comes great risk.
During Songkran, there’s always the danger of getting too drunk and ending up in a situation you’ll regret later.
I’ve heard horror stories of some blokes waking up in a hotel room with no memory of how they got there, or worse, waking up in a police station with a hefty fine to pay because they splash a police officer in the eye…

As for me, I was walking down the street, I saw a group of girls splashing water at each other and dancing to the loud music. They were all wearing tight and revealing clothing, and I couldn’t help but stare.
Suddenly, one of the girls approached me and whispered in my ear, “You want to come with me, honey?” I looked at her and noticed the mischievous twinkle in her eye. “Sure, why not?” I replied, feeling my heart race with excitement.
We walked into a nearby bar and she ordered us both a drink.
As we talked, I couldn’t help but notice how fun and playful she was.
She told me stories of her adventures during past Songkran festivals, and I couldn’t help but laugh at her wild antics.
She even showed me a video on her phone of her and her friends dancing naked on top of a bar, completely soaked from head to toe.
We go hotel and the end of the story is a classic longtime experience. 2000 baht, multiple pops, what a great night,

So, what’s the verdict on Songkran in Pattaya for mongers?
Well, it’s definitely a mixed bag.
There’s no denying the fun and excitement of being in the middle of all the action, but it’s important to be careful and smart about how you navigate the chaos.
And if you do decide to take the plunge, just remember to keep your wits about you, stay hydrated (lol), and always, always wear…. a rubber. 😇
As the night drew to a close and the streets began to clear out, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief.

As I walked back to my hotel room, I couldn’t help but smile at the memories I had made.
Maybe next year, I’ll do it all over again.. or maybe not.. or maybe yes.. up to you myself;
But for now, it was time to rest and recover from the madness of Songkran in Pattaya.
